Redecorating in progress.

So last Saturday, I came up with the brilliant idea to redecorate most of our apartment. We've lived here since 2009 with absolutely no cosmetic changes at all. I had previously lived in an apartment of my own for a couple years with this same decor also, so needless to say, I was bored of it. Now that the wedding and honeymoon are over, I had no big projects to plan and organize, so I figured a home redecoration would be a good thing to keep me occupied.

Rick came home from work that day, and the conversation basically went like this:

Me: I want to redecorate the bathroom, office, and master bedroom. I'm bored of them.
Him: OK. Let's do it.

So our Saturday night went from relaxing with a movie to running around town buying things for our project. Rick was such a great sport about it. He hasn't complained once this whole time and has been a whiz at putting things together. He has really tried hard at putting things together.

The bathroom was pretty easy. Our bathroom is tiny. If you've never visited us, it's basically the size of a small closet. The vanity is outside of it, and our "bathroom" really has just a shower and a toilet. There's not even room for a garbage can in there. We went to Target and got one of those racks you can build up over the toilet for storage space. We also got a new rug and shower curtain, some candles, and called it a day.

Our bedroom isn't awful either. We got a new comforter set at BBB, some fake plant type things at Gordman's, some candles, and new trays for organizing bottles on our dresser. I still want some new photos up on the walls, but I think I'll wait and do some wedding photos.

The hardest space is our office/guest bedroom. We originally had a twin bed in there with one computer desk. I hated this room. We just bought a comforter and curtains real quick to have something when Rick moved in, but I never loved them. We got rid of the bed completely! We got rid of my desk beast {seriously, I've had it since college. You can't take it apart and expect to put it together again, so it weighs approximately 5930324 pounds that you have to carry whenever you move}. We got Rick a desk too, so now I have to share my "cave" with him. He is loving it. Just last night, we got him a desk chair and some more desktop organization. I still want a rug, new curtains, and some sort of shelving unit for storage.

We have basically lived in a pig sty this week. I'm going to show you some pictures, but this isn't even half as bad as what it looked like. Consider these some really scary "before" photos.

Looking down the hallway to our living room.

The crap currently residing in our bedroom.

More crap.

Photo frames we're waiting to fill.

Crap in the dining area.

Once it's all complete, it will be worth it I'm sure. Until then, it's stressful and annoying. But we have {almost} survived our first home reno project together! I promise to post before/after photos once it's presentable.
